The Honeybee Farm

Hey, Ken Edgar here how’s it going? Thanks for visiting my site. Anything and everything you want to know about beekeeping, I am your guy. I usually start off by telling people I was tricked into beekeeping about 20 years ago. When asked to take the class, I thought, “You must be crazy, we are going to get stung to death!” Somehow I agreed, and now I am asking you to join me. Here’s a little background before we get started…

My Story

I moved to Wilmington, North Carolina from a small town in Indiana when I was ten years old. After high school, I was active duty in the United States Army until retirement in my late thirties. For several years, I was an instructor at Cape Fear Community College and founded Ken’s Tree Service.  This is when I took up beekeeping as a hobby. I found it extremely rewarding and relaxing in my hectic life.

As I gained experience and earned my Master Beekeeper Certificate from North Carolina, I volunteered at the NC State Zoo, local schools, churches and events to teach beekeeping to all levels of enthusiasts in the Tri-County Region. I was the President of the Brunswick County Beekeepers Association and have bee yards in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick County with our newest location serving Columbus County.

In 2021, I sold the tree company and beekeeping became my full-time passion. You may have bought my 100% pure, raw, and unadulterated honey under the name: The Sweet Life Honeybee Farm. My largest distributors are: Shelton Herb Farm and Wrigglesworth Ace Hardware.  Check out the link below: I was featured on four news stations in March of 2024.

RE

I’m thrilled to announce my new company name:  The Honey Bee Farm; located at White Heron Retreat in Delco, North Carolina just 15 minutes outside of Wilmington towards Lake Waccamaw off Route US 74/76.

Living Classrooms Bee Hive: Come and immerse yourself in the hive:  the sights, sounds, smells and of course, the taste. Once you discern the taste and medicinal qualities of pure wildflower honey, the way God intended it to be, you will never return to the pasteurized, filtered, unknown origin, and questionable quality store brands.

Questions or Swarm Rescues:  Feel free to text me during normal business hours. I am happy to help.

Individual or Group Classes: On-site or at your location for all levels of instruction. I modify my teachings for all age groups and welcome warm and smiling faces.

Looking to Purchase:  Honey, queen bees, bees, nucleus colonies, propolis, bee pollen, please text at least 1 week in advance so we can customize your order.

From Our House Unto Yours with Peace, Love and Honey.
